*Asian beliefs make the tiger an ambivalent animal associated with spirits and who lives symbolically on the edge between civilization and the wild world. Tigers and humans are descendant from the same ancestor. The tradition is therefore that the tiger has a human soul.
*The « eye of the tiger » refers to what the tiger's prey last sees prior to being killed. Indeed, when a tiger 'goes in for the kill, it turns its ears backwards, showing the spot on the back of each ear, i.e. the « tiger's eyes ».
