*The «winter man» dates back to the Middle Ages in the form of a worn-out man who comes to warm himself by the fire and to whom gifts are offered. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the snowman was associated with the end of the year celebrations and became a figurine of the Christmas tree.
*In Lithuania, the snowman calls himself «brain-less man». During the winter 2005, in protest against their government, Lithuanians built 141 snowmen in front of their parliament, one for each member of parliament.
