"OMAHA BEACH" SWEATSHIRT ǀ WOMEN ǀ "NORMAN SPIRIT"
*On 6 June 1944, the 1st and 29th U.S. Infantry Divisions were responsible for establishing a bridgehead here at Omaha Beach. The 4 miles long beach had been divided into 3 large sectors, code-named from west to east : “Dog”, facing Vierville, “Easy”, facing Saint Laurent, and “Fox”, facing Colleville.
*The Omaha Indians are « those who go against the wind ». 175 Amerindian soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. A stele showing a turtle was erected in memory of the Amerindian soldiers who died on Omaha Beach. The turtle, a sacred creature in Indian mythology, represents land, wisdom and longevity. It is also the name that many Indian peoples use to designate our continent.
