*Gold Beach & Sword Beach were the code names for beaches for the British Army. It was the English general Montgomery who had decided to give fishes’ names to these beaches: goldfish and swordfish, finally renamed in Gold Beach and Sword Beach.
*Sword is the only one of the 5 landing beaches where the Free French of the Kieffer commandos landed.
